Democratizing Science For a New Generation

The goal of Serious About Science is to bring science to all students, keeping it accessible and interactive.

Chances are your child has been learning about DNA from a young age. They’ve probably even extracted it from a strawberry. Let’s give students access to biotechnology concepts early so they can copy, visualize, and even analyze DNA, showing them all the amazing techniques biotech uses.

Serious about Science was started by Vanessa Hobbs to reach local students in the Frederick area. Vanessa is a homeschool mom who also teaches part time at Montgomery College, Frederick Community College and Johns Hopkins University. She has experience teaching students from middle school through graduate level. Really she just likes science, and wants to show everyone how fun it can be.
